Glamping Gets the Green Light at Glenlivet Forest Park!
Wigwam® Holidays, one of the UK’s leading glamping accommodation providers, will construct 24 luxury glamping cabins at Glenlivet Forest Park, Tomintoul, in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park!
Thanks to a successful partnership with The Crown Estate and a successful funding bid, Wigwam® Holidays’ latest venture will help expand the tourism accommodation portfolio in the area, introducing affordable yet quality glamping to one of the most beautiful areas in the country.
Charles Gulland, Director of Wigwam® Holidays, said: “We are delighted with the news, which is expected to bring a significant benefit to the local economy in the form of jobs, increasing visitor footfall and boosting direct spend into the area.”
Wigwam® Holidays is working in partnership with The Crown Estate, whose regional portfolio includes the Glenlivet Estate, near Tomintoul. Works starts in October 2016 with Phase One, featuring the construction of the first 12
Wigwams®, due for completion by March 2017. Phase Two commences in November 2017, due for completion in March 2018 when 24 Wigwams® will be in place.
Vicky Hilton, The Crown Estate’s countryside manager for the Glenlivet Estate, said: “We’ve done a lot of work in recent years to attract more visitors to the Estate. The development of the new site will give people more choice, allowing us to attract tourists for both long and short breaks, whether it’s to enjoy mountain biking on our tracks, a ramble across the Estate or just the opportunity to enjoy our stunning landscape.
“Growing numbers of visitors will directly support local businesses by increasing spending, as well as creating new jobs.”
As Wigwams® are specially designed for year-round occupancy, additional revenues will be brought to local businesses, such as BikeGlenlivet, the walking and trekking centre, and the Lecht Ski School and Centre.
