Mount Edgcumbe House & Country Park to become a glamping resort

Mount Edgcumbe House and Country Park are set to start offering guests the opportunity to stay in two new huts due to open this summer.

The picturesque site which is one of the largest country parks in the UK, already takes wedding and conference bookings, is developing a new revenue stream which shall offer guests exceptional views from their Shepherds Huts.

This additional revenue stream is welcome after volunteers stated council funding reductions has put sufficient pressure on the future of the beautiful country parks.

David Marshall, business development manager at Mount Edgcumbe House & Country Park, told The Herald: "There are two shepherd huts being built as we speak by contractors Plankbridge."

"They have a high spec and should be with us for start of the season, so will be taking bookings soon."

Mr Marshall claimed that the new huts will be an exciting addition to the venue and will be within a reasonable price range. He said: "This will be perfect for people looking to drop of the cities, get in tune with nature and don't want a hi-tech holiday."

"It's a rural, idyll venue full of luxury. It will be the perfect place to de-stress and get away from it all. It won't be too costly or too cheap. It will be a mid-range holiday letting. We don't want to price people out of it."

He added: "We know it's a very popular area of site which we have not overlooked and will remain sensitive to the protected views and away from public thorough fares."

Richard Lee, co-founder and director at Plankbridge said: "Having visited the site I was very struck by the amazing views over the estuary to Plymouth and the countryside...Clearly the two huts needed to make the most of this and to provide a warm and comfortable space to enjoy Mt Edgcumbe to its full potential."
