GRINKLE PARK ESTATE TO BUILD LUXURY HOLIDAY LODGE PARK
If the planning committee approves the application, the North Yorkshire estate will see its country house hotel expand to welcome 60 lodges and two new lakes, costing approximately £5 million.
The submission of this application comes after two years of lengthy planning and deliberation by the hands of the Classic Lodges Group - who have met with consultants and authorities to ensure the plans are approved by the council.
Part of the plans also include the intent to restore the hotel’s stable block, which is a grade II listed building.
Classic Lodges’ managing director, Richard Grime, said: “Everyone we have shown the site and plans to has uttered one word - ‘wow’.”
The lodges will be environmentally friendly and will feature luxury aspects such as integrated hot tubs.
Loftus Town Council’s chair, Mike Hodgson, highlighted the positive impact that these types of tourism and facility developments can have on visitors as well as the local community - especially by bringing more employment opportunities.
“We look forward to formally reviewing and commenting on this proposal,” said Hodgson.
The country house hotel currently employs 75 people working in and around the estate, and this number would increase to 100 if the expansion plans are approved.
Mr Grime hopes that this development will boost the local economy as well as offer visitors and guests an exclusive experience.
Regarding the potential of the estate, which is situated in the North York Moors, to the west of Runswick Bay, he also added: “It is also one of the county’s pre-eminent wedding venues with fabulous gardens, so the development would enhance and extend what is already a premium offering.”
