SOUTH CLIFF CARAVAN PARK HOPES FOR MULTI-MILLION POUND EXPANSION
The planning application is currently under consideration, and if the council’s proposal for the extension is approved, works in the Bridlington site will begin this Autumn.
The caravan park boasts almost 800 static caravan pitches, which are constantly at maximum capacity. Additionally, it includes 20 tent pitches, 12 fleet hire caravans to be used for holiday letting, and 160 touring pitches. The site, which is run by East Riding of Yorkshire Council, is incredibly popular and well received amongst both visitors and consultants alike.
If the development is approved, the park will expand towards the bordering land of the Wilsthorpe Estate, making room for 48 extra touring pitches; 15 glamping units; 31 tent pitches; 19 new lodges and 132 additional static pitches. Additionally, new facilities will be built to cater to the extra staff needed for running the site.
The expansion will increase the park’s revenue, which will in turn pay back the multi-million pound investment on the project. It will also help boost the local economy, creating new jobs and increasing the yearly visitor spend by £1.8 million.
The head of culture and customer services, Ian Rayner, said: “As well as creating new jobs on the site, subject to final planning approval, we would be able to greatly increase the number of people coming to stay in Bridlington and spending their money in the town and surrounding area, which would be a huge boost to the local economy.”
“Given the continuing success of Bridlington Spa, and the refurbished Sewerby Hall and Gardens, as well as East Riding Leisure Bridlington which opened last year, there is a great deal for visitors to see and do. This newly expanded site would bring in a new wave of customers for all these facilities, as well as the town’s superb beaches and seafront, and for its restaurants, bars, shops and cafes.”
