NEW QUARRY-TURNED-HOLIDAY PARK COMING TO FLINTSHIRE

The owners of a Flintshire quarry have received planning approval for change of use into a holiday park with 63 static caravans, 70 touring pitches & 47 luxury cabins.

Landscape architects ‘The Ark Company’ were appointed to design the scheme, which is estimated to give £1m+ financial benefit to the local area once it is up and running.

Regarding the environmental impact of the scheme, the applicant PHB said: “The design embraces a sustainable, enhancing, interconnecting and sympathetic layout that takes advantage of the landscape, existing ecosystems, ecology and tree and vegetation buffers that offer organic natural screening through the whole site.”

The holiday park will be designed to incorporate three distinct areas, which will be connected by a series of roads and tracks from the existing quarry. Regarding the planning meeting’s favorable outcome, PHB’s Peter Barlow said: “The local communities cannot be supported by local spending alone, and the tourist pound is needed. This is a local business  employing local people, making a contribution to local services”
